Dichlororuthenium(II) is an organometallic chemical compound that has a luminophore. It was first synthesized in the late 1800s and can be used as an imaging technique for x-ray structures. Dichlororuthenium(II) has been shown to have physiological effects in primary cells, including 5-hydroxymethylcytosine synthesis and DNA binding. The low detection of dichlororuthenium(II) makes it useful for bioanalysis, such as the determination of hydrogen bond and electrochemical data. Dichlororuthenium(II) also has been shown to be effective against cancer cells.
