4-Bromo-3-ethoxyaniline hydrochloride is a positron-emitting radiopharmaceutical that is used to measure neuroinflammation. It behaves as an inhibitor of kinases and has affinity for microglia cells in the brain. 4-Bromo-3-ethoxyaniline hydrochloride can be labeled with fluorine 18, nitrogen 13, carbon 11 or oxygen 15 for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Radiolabeled 4-bromo-3-ethoxyaniline hydrochloride has been shown to accumulate in the brain and spinal cord of nonhuman primates after injection. The uptake of this pharmaceutical was found to be significantly higher in the brains of rhesus monkeys than cynomolgus monkeys, which means it may not be suitable for use in nonhuman primates.
