Product Information
5-(N-t-Butylaminomethyl)-2-chlorophenylboronic acid, pinacol ester is a small molecule that is expressed by cells. It has been shown to inhibit the transport of formic acid in bacteria as well as in cultured human red blood cells. 5-(N-t-Butylaminomethyl)-2-chlorophenylboronic acid, pinacol ester also has inherent hydroxyl groups and termini that may be important for binding to bacterial membranes. This compound was used to study the orientation of molecules on the surface of bacterial membranes using molecular modeling and lithography. The results showed that this small molecule could bind to the membrane surface with orientations that are similar to those of known inhibitors such as clavulanic acid and cefoxitin.
