Description:
1,2-trans-Enantioselective reduction of cinnamaldehydes with (3R)-1-(5-aminopyridin-2-yl)pyrrolidin-3-ol in the presence of a chiral organocatalyst such as malonates has been shown to produce high yields of the corresponding optically active alcohols. This enantioselective reduction is efficient and can be carried out under mild conditions. The process is recyclable and can be used for large scale synthesis.
