4-(2-Bromo-4-methylphenoxy)-3-chloroaniline is a research tool that can be used to activate receptors in cells. It has been shown to be a ligand for several receptor types, including GABAA and NMDA receptors. 4-(2-Bromo-4-methylphenoxy)-3-chloroaniline is also an inhibitor of ion channels. This compound was found to inhibit the binding of the beta subunit of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and the alpha subunit of the glycine receptor. 4-(2-Bromo-4-methylphenoxy)-3-chloroaniline has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in cells by inhibiting ribosomal translocation.
