Product Information
[(thiophen-2-ylmethylidene)amino]thiourea is a dithiol organometallic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity against human cancer cells. [(thiophen-2-ylmethylidene)amino]thiourea inhibits the synthesis of DNA in cancer cells by reacting with arene, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of DNA. The reaction mechanism involves an electron transfer from [(thiophen-2-ylmethylidene)amino]thiourea to the arene, producing a radical cation that reacts with oxygen to form a stable carboxaldehyde. The carboxaldehyde can then react with other intermediates in the biosynthesis of DNA to prevent their formation, inhibiting DNA replication and leading to cell death.
