Product Information
tBDF is a compound that inhibits the formation of amyloid protein. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of amyloid protein in a number of animal models, including Alzheimer's disease. tBDF is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme beta-secretase 1 (BACE1), which is responsible for cleaving amyloid precursor protein (APP) into its toxic fragments: beta-amyloid peptides. These fragments are thought to be responsible for the symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease. Tert-butyl 2-((tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)methyl)furo[3,2-b]pyridin-6-ylcarbamate also inhibits another enzyme called gamma secretase, which is responsible for breaking down APP and forming another toxic fragment known as Aβ42.
