Ethylenediammonium sulfate is a water-soluble salt that is used in the treatment of wastewater. It is also a component of some detergents and cosmetics. The biological properties and toxicity of ethylenediammonium sulfate are not well understood, but it has been shown to have a phase transition temperature (T) of about 80°C.
Ethylenediammonium sulfate can be used for the treatment of nitrite ion-containing wastewater by converting nitrite ion to nitrogen gas, which reduces the risk of nitrate contamination in groundwater. Ethylenediammonium sulfate can also be used for the production of ethylenediamine, which is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H7N(CH2)2NH2. This compound is used as a precursor to other compounds such as N,N'-ethylenebisacrylamide and polyethyleneimine.
