2-Methyl-3-(4-fluorophenyl) propanoic acid is a fatty acid that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can be found in nature, but it is not produced by any living organism. 2-Methyl-3-(4-fluorophenyl) propanoic acid has been shown to have bactericidal activity against a variety of bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This compound also exhibits antibacterial properties against organisms that produce carboxylic acids such as acrylic acid and butanoic acid. The crystal structure of this molecule has been determined by X-ray crystallography.
