Dehydroglaucine is a dehydrogenated analogue of liriodenine that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity in mice. Dehydroglaucine inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial DNA and RNA, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. This compound also has an inhibitory effect on gastrointestinal motility.
