3-Hydroxy-2-phenylacrylonitrile is a compound that belongs to the class of organic compounds. It is used in the synthesis of other chemical compounds, such as phosphorus pentachloride and chlorine. 3-Hydroxy-2-phenylacrylonitrile is stable under normal conditions, but can be hydrolyzed to form a dimer when heated or irradiated with light. 3-Hydroxy-2-phenylacrylonitrile has been shown to have an abnormal nmr spectrum, which may be due to its dimerization process.
