2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione is a fluorescent yellow pyranone that can be used to enhance fluorescence. The emission maximum of 2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione is at 490 nm. It has a high fluorescence quantum yield and a low fluorescence lifetime. It is soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone, chloroform, and ethanol. In the presence of oxygen or ultraviolet light it emits blue light. 2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione has been used experimentally in polyester synthesis to produce fluorescent polyesters with an improved photochromic property.
