5-Chloro-2-thiophenecarboxamide is a fatty acid that has been shown to have anti-leishmanial activity. The regression method was used to determine the concentration of 5-chloro-2-thiophenecarboxamide needed to inhibit 50% of Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes. The regression equation was y = 0.0011x + 0.0683 and R2 = 0.99, where x is the concentration of 5-chloro-2-thiophenecarboxamide (μg/mL) and y is the percentage of Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes killed by 5-chloro-2-thiophenecarboxamide (%).
5-Chloro-2-thiophenecarboxamide has also been shown to have cardiovascular properties, as it decreases blood pressure in rats with hypertension by inhibiting angiotensin II formation and increasing vasod
