Indium Phosphide is a semiconductor material that emits light when heated. It is used in devices that are sensitive to light, such as optical sensors and thermometers, and can be used for optical communication. Indium phosphide nanowires have been shown to be effective in monoclonal antibody-based detection of cancer cells. The thermal expansion coefficient of indium phosphide is similar to that of silicon, but it has a higher thermal conductivity than silicon. This makes it more suitable for the manufacture of high-power transistors and other devices operating at high temperatures. Indium phosphide has been shown to be chemically stable up to about 200°C, which makes it ideal for use in laser ablation processes.
