Product Information
2-Phenyl-propionyl chloride is a pentafluorophenyl derivative that can be used to generate chiral osmium compounds. It is synthesized by the reaction of 2-phenylpropionic acid and chlorosulfonic acid. The diastereomeric mixture is separated using chromatography or crystallization, and then the desired stereoisomer can be obtained by hydrogenation reduction. This compound has been shown to react with styrene at room temperature to form a mixture of diastereomers in good yield. The kinetic resolution of this mixture was accomplished with oriented column chromatography, yielding the desired product in high purity.
2-Phenyl-propionyl chloride has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as E coli, Salmonella enterica, and Shigella dysenteriae.
