Tricarbonyldichlororuthenium(II) dimer (TCCR) is a monoxide that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. The biological properties of TCCR have been studied in detail, including its effects on voltage-dependent calcium channels and transfer reactions. TCCR binds to carbon monoxide and forms a metal carbonyl complex with the redox potential of −0.20 V, which prevents the binding of CO to heme proteins, such as hemoglobin and myoglobin. This activity may be due to its ability to bind to human serum albumin or dextran sulfate.
