7-Methoxy-1,4-benzothiazin-3-one is an experimental drug that has been shown to bind to voltage-gated ion channels and inhibit the opening of these channels. It also inhibits the activity of voltage-gated ion channels in neurons. It has been shown to be a competitive antagonist at GABA A receptors and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. 7-Methoxy-1,4-benzothiazin-3-one has been tested for its effects on mice, where it showed no effect on pentylenetetrazole or bicuculline convulsions or electroshock seizures. However, it did show some efficacy in reducing gabaergic seizures induced by carbamazepine or 3-mercaptopropionic acid.
