2-Amino-3-(3-nitrophenyl)propanoic acid is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, such as influenza virus and its inhibitors. This compound can be prepared by reacting phenylacetic acid with trifluoroacetic acid. The resulting ester hydrochloride can then be reacted with chloroform to produce 2-amino-3-(3-nitrophenyl)propanoic acid. The chloride anion can also be introduced into the molecule by reacting propionyl chloride with 2-amino-3-(3-nitrophenyl)propanoic acid. 2-Amino-3-(3-nitrophenyl)propanoic acid is an organic chemical that has been shown to inhibit influenza A viruses in the laboratory.
