Product Information
5-Amino-2-(carboxymethyl)benzoic acid is a propiolic acid derivative that can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of other molecules. The molecule can be dimerized by treating with formaldehyde and potassium hydroxide in methanol. The resulting product is a cyclic enamine called azadiene. This compound can also react with electrophiles such as halogens to produce homophthalic acid derivatives. 5-Amino-2-(carboxymethyl)benzoic acid has been shown to form propiolic, acrylic, and formaldehyde when treated with the appropriate reagents.
