Product Information

Name:
(E)-4-(Dimethylamino)chalcone
Description:

(E)-4-(Dimethylamino)chalcone is a fluorescent compound that has been used as a light-emitting probe for the detection of hydrogen peroxide. It reacts with hydrogen peroxide to form a stable complex. The fluorescence emission can be quenched by binding with human serum albumin or other proteins, and the fluorescence intensity is proportional to the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the sample. The kinetic data suggest that this reaction proceeds through an ionic mechanism. (E)-4-(Dimethylamino)chalcone has also been used in biological studies and shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on human monocytes. This molecule can be acylated into a polymeric matrix, which can then be used as a fluorescent probe for fatty acids.
