2-Chloro-4-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)benzonitrile is an androgen receptor modulator that inhibits prostate cancer cell growth by antagonism of the androgen receptor. This agent has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer in mice by blocking the binding of testosterone to the receptor. 2-Chloro-4-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)benzonitrile is used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer in patients who have stopped responding to other treatments. It has also been shown to be effective against other cancers such as breast cancer, colon cancer, and leukemia.
