Product Information

Name:
3-Butoxy-4-nitrobenzoic acid
Description:

3-Butoxy-4-nitrobenzoic acid (3BNA) is a thionyl chloride derivative of the amino group, ether, and diethylaminoethyl. It is also known as 3-butoxybenzoic acid. 3BNA has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in acute inflammation models. 3BNA inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity and may be useful for the treatment of inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. The hydrochloride salt of 3BNA is converted to the acid ethyl ester by saponification with methanol or hydrochloric acid, followed by hydrogenation with Raney nickel catalyst. This process yields an oily liquid that can be purified by distillation.
