Product Information
2-[Hydroxy(methyl)phosphinyl]-essigsäure (2-HMPE) is a metabolite of mycophenolic acid that is used as an analytical reagent for the determination of serum albumin. 2-HMPE inhibits the synthesis and release of inflammatory mediators, such as nitric oxide, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes. It also inhibits several enzymes involved in the metabolism of arachidonic acid. The inhibitory activity of 2-HMPE on these enzymes may be due to its ability to bind to ferrous ions which are required for their catalytic activity.
