Product Information
Methyl 3-(2-pyridyl)propiolate is a cyclic ketone that can be synthesized by decarboxylation of methyl 3-(2-pyridyl)acrylate. This compound has been shown to undergo microwave irradiation to produce the corresponding dipolar cyclic ketone, methyl 2,6-diphenoxybenzoate. The same reaction can also be carried out using thiophenol and cyanoformate as starting materials. Methyl 3-(2-pyridyl)propiolate is used to synthesize other compounds through a variety of reactions, including the cycloaddition with ethylene oxide.
