It is a new chemical entity with a novel mechanism of action that is effective against a wide range of organisms, including bacteria, fungi and viruses. The compound has shown potent in vitro activity against all three major classes of human pathogenic microbes: Gram-positive cocci (including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Gram-negative bacilli and fungi.
