±-Methyl Serotonin Maleate Salt is a selective 5-HT1A receptor agonist with an inhibitory effect on locomotor activity in rats. It is used as an antidepressant treatment and may be effective in the treatment of bladder disorders. ±-Methyl Serotonin Maleate Salt has been shown to have excitatory effects on the bladder and to increase the frequency of maximal response, which may be due to its ability to stimulate 5-HT1, 5-HT4 receptors.
