1,4,8,11-Tetraaza-cyclotetradecane-5,12-dione is a macrocyclic compound that has potentiometric properties. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of bacterial growth in the presence of perchlorate and inhibits the production of diphosphate by phosphofructokinase. 1,4,8,11-Tetraaza-cyclotetradecane-5,12-dione has also been used to study the conformational changes in enzymes. The compound was found to bind to an enzyme's active site and inhibit its activity by altering its conformation.
