Product Information
- Dabsyl-l-methionine
Dabsyl-L-methionine is a polymerase chain inhibitor that blocks the formation of DNA. It is used as an antidote for acrylamide poisoning, but has also been shown to have anticancer properties. Dabsyl-L-methionine binds to the polymerization initiator and inhibits the initiation of DNA synthesis. This drug has been shown to be effective against tumor cells in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action is not yet known, but it may involve a redox signal or coagulation activity. Dabsyl-L-methionine acts by preventing polymerization of nucleotides with the formation of a covalent bond between the nucleotide and the enzyme, thus inhibiting DNA synthesis.
