Description:
Sinapic acid is a phenolic compound found in the plant genus Sinapis. It can be biosynthesized from syringic acid and malonic acid, which are found in the leaves of plants such as apple trees. Sinapic acid has been shown to inhibit influenza virus by binding to the hemagglutinin protein. Sinapic acid also has anticancer activity against cancer cells with a glycerin-phospholipid bilayer membrane and inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. Sinapic acid is also used as an absorber for lithospermic reactions due to its structural formula that allows it to bind to metal ions and form hydrogen bonds.
