Description

3-Epioleanolic acid is a natural compound that has been shown to have antiinflammatory and anticancer properties. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancer. 3-Epioleanolic acid has also been reported to bind to the rifampin receptor, which may be useful for the development of new drugs against infectious diseases and cancer. The structure of 3-epioleanolic acid was elucidated by chemical studies and it was found to be metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4. It is also possible that 3-epioleanolic acid can be used as an analytical method for determining the purity of oleinic acid.
