Ergocorninine is a natural alkaloid that has been shown to have receptor activity in the brain, and has been found to be a dopamine agonist. Ergocorninine is also an antagonist of the estrogen receptor. The wild-type strain of ergocryptine was used for the analysis of ergocorninine. A model system was used to study the matrix effect on analytical methods. Alkaloids were analyzed using a dispersive solid-phase extraction method and serum prolactin levels were studied by administering estradiol benzoate to vivo models.
