Description

Gymnemic acid I is a saponin that interacts with the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs and has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on the activity of the enzyme tiglic acid. Gymnemic acid I has been shown to be effective in the treatment of diabetic patients. The compound also has a protective effect against metabolic disorders, such as hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia, which may be due to its ability to suppress autophagy.
