Product Information
Gadodiamide is an MRI contrast agent that is used to create images of the heart and blood vessels. Gadodiamide is a paramagnetic substance that has a high relaxivity in the human body, which allows it to be used as an imaging agent for angiography. It can be injected into a patient intravenously and will accumulate in tissues with higher blood flow rates. The gadolinium ion is then ionized by infrared light and emits radio waves, which can be detected by the MRI scanner. Gadodiamide has a phase transition temperature of 68 °C and this property can be exploited to selectively ablate tissue with laser pulses.
