Maropitant is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that selectively blocks the neurokinin-1 receptor. It was approved by the FDA in 2007 for the prevention of motion sickness and nausea associated with pregnancy. Maropitant has been shown to have cardiac effects and can cause blood pressure changes. This drug also has potential clinical relevance for treatment of autoimmune diseases such as chronic cough caused by cation channel mutations.
