Product Information
Irbesartan is a carboxylic acid derivative that belongs to the class of angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and diabetic kidney disease. Irbesartan inhibits the renin-angiotensin system by blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors. Irbesartan also inhibits the formation of reactive oxygen species by interfering with oxidative enzymes. This drug has been shown to have fragmentation pathways that involve acidic cleavage, labile hydrogens, on-line photolytic reactions, and mass fragmentations. Irbesartan is a substrate for on-line LCMS methods that use a photochemical oxidation technique for fragmentation.
