Benzyldodecyldimethylammonium Chloride Dihydrate (BDDAC) is a cationic surfactant that is used in detergent compositions to provide antimicrobial activity. It is the most effective of the cationic surfactants for the disinfection of surfaces and can be used as a disinfectant for cleaning and sanitizing hard, non-porous surfaces. BDDAC has been shown to have broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses. The chemical coding at the end of the molecule enables it to be detected by chemiluminescent methods.
