Gomisin U is a natural ingredient extracted from the fruit of Schizandra chinensis, which has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties. It has inhibitory effects on the function of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and can be used as an anti-cancer agent. Gomisin U also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The extract is a mixture of two stereoisomers, gomisin A and B, which differ in their chemical structure. Gomisin A is more active than B in inhibiting HIV proliferation.
