1-Iodoimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine is an experimental compound that has not been studied in detail. It has a yield of 66% and can be synthesized in one step. 1-Iodoimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine can be used for the amination of methyl ketones with ammonium acetate to produce the corresponding methyl amines. The compound is also efficient for the synthesis of ketones from aldehydes and alcohols. The chemistry of this compound is still under investigation, but it has shown promising results in oxidative cyclizations of pyridines and imidazoles.
