Product Information
4-Ethynylphenyl methanamine (4EP) is a hydrophobic drug that has been shown to interact with the cell membrane, as well as with polymerized doxorubicin. The interaction of 4EP with the cell membrane results in a change in the conformation of the lipid bilayer and an increase in transmembrane permeability. 4EP also stabilizes doxorubicin by preventing aggregation and precipitation. It has been shown to be more effective than doxorubicin alone at inhibiting tumor growth and prolonging survival time in mice. This drug is also hydrophobic, which allows it to take advantage of hydrophobic interactions for increased uptake into cells.
4EP can inhibit DNA synthesis by binding to DNA topoisomerase II alpha and II beta, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. It also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal RNA, leading to cell death by inhibiting
