Isolonchocarpin is a potent cytotoxic flavonoid present in the genus Tephrosia. It is an active compound that has been shown to have strong antioxidant properties and, as such, may be used to treat inflammatory conditions. Isolonchocarpin has been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The chromatographic separation of Isolonchocarpin from other compounds in Tephrosia indica was achieved using a densitometric method. This method analyzed the sample by measuring the absorbance of light at different wavelengths and comparing it with standards for each compound.
