Isofraxoside
Synonyms:
  • Isofraxoside(8CI)
Description:

Isofraxoside is a flavonoid that is found in the genus Isodon. It has shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities. It has been used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, asthma, and allergic rhinitis. Isofraxoside has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells through induction of apoptosis and modulation of gene transcription by activating signal pathways such as JNK1/2 and p38. The chemical structure of isofraxoside consists of a coumarin derivative with a C6-C3′-C6′ bond at position 3′, which distinguishes it from other compounds belonging to the same family. This compound can be identified by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (ESI-MS).
