3-Bromo-2-methoxyquinoline is a synthetic quinoline ring that has been shown to have multi-drug resistance. It inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids by binding to the enzyme RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. 3-Bromo-2-methoxyquinoline has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis, as it blocks the production of DNA and RNA. This drug also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the enzyme ribosomal protein S3 in bacteria, which is necessary for bacterial cell division. 3-Bromo-2-methoxyquinoline has not shown any safety issues so far, but clinical use is limited due to its high toxicity.
