Product Information
Levofloxacin is an antibiotic that belongs to the fluoroquinolone class. It binds to the bacterial receptor and inhibits the production of proteins vital for cell division. The 3-D structure of levofloxacin has been determined by X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, revealing a binding site for levofloxacin in the channel at the cytoplasmic end of the ion selectivity filter. Levofloxacin has shown a high affinity for ligand-gated ion channels, including nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, glutamate receptors, and GABA receptors. This drug also blocks potassium channels and voltage-gated calcium channels.
