Name:
KX2-391 (Tirbanibulin)
Synonyms:
  • 5-[4-[2-(4-Morpholinyl)ethoxy]phenyl]-N-(phenylmethyl)-2-pyridineacetamide
  • Kx 01
Description:

Tirbanibulin is a drug for the treatment of osteoprogenitor and coagulation disorders. KX2-391 is currently undergoing clinical trials in humans. The drug has been shown to increase bone mineralization and decrease bleeding while also inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis in mice with breast cancer. The drug works by binding to the p53 protein which may be responsible for apoptosis, or programmed cell death. Tirbanibulin has also been shown to inhibit the production of gyrophoric acid in cultured cells, suggesting that it could be used as a chemotherapeutic agent to treat cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
