Dimethoxydioctylsilane is a silicon-based organosilicon compound with the formula Si(OCH)2. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. Dimethoxydioctylsilane has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of polyolefins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polybutadiene. It also has hydroxyl groups that are expressed on the surface of particles in a monolayer arrangement. This functional group can react with an acid to form a salt or ester.
