Product Information

Name:
5-chloro-3-methoxy-pyridine-2-carbonitrile
Description:

5-Chloro-3-methoxy-pyridine-2-carbonitrile is a potent antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. It has been shown to inhibit NMDA receptors in rat brain membranes and to block the activity of NMDA receptors in cortical neurons. 5-Chloro-3-methoxy-pyridine-2-carbonitrile has been shown to have no effect on glycine receptors, and it is not an agonist at these receptors. This compound has also been shown to have an antagonistic effect on the GABA receptor, but this effect is less potent than that observed for the NMDA receptor. The effects of 5CMPC on NMDA receptors are blocked by Dizocilpine maleate (MK801), a noncompetitive antagonist of the NMDA receptor. In addition, 5CMPC has been shown to be an antagonist at other receptor sites such as nicotinic
