Description:
2-Bromo-6-iodobenzoic acid, a synthetic compound, is a potent antiproliferative and anticancer agent. It has shown inhibitory activities against a wide range of cancer cells, including leukemia and colon cancer. 2-Bromo-6-iodobenzoic acid selectively inhibits the synthesis of DNA by competitively inhibiting the enzyme DNA polymerase. This inhibition prevents DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell death. In addition, 2-Bromo-6-iodobenzoic acid also inhibits the production of proinflammatory factors such as TNFα and IL1β in vitro.
