Description

Xanthoxyletin is a derivative of coumarin that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties. It is a natural compound that is extracted from the leaves of an Asian tree, namely Xanthoxylum piperitum. Xanthoxyletin inhibits tumor cell growth in vitro by inducing autophagy, which is the process by which cells degrade and recycle their own cellular components. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of HL60 cells in vitro and also possesses potent antitumor activity against colorectal adenocarcinoma. The analytical method for Xanthoxyletin is HPLC with UV detection at 230 nm.
