Description:

Songoramine is a novel c19-diterpenoid alkaloid that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme hepg2, which is involved in the synthesis of heme. Songoramine also has anti-tumor properties and can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. The drug binds to the protrusions on the surface of cancer cells, which prevents them from attaching to other cells in order to proliferate. Songoramine also inhibits animal models of tumorigenesis and has been shown to be effective against human leukemia cells. This drug is still under development for use as a cancer treatment.
