Product Information
L-2-Phosphoglyceric acid disodium hydrate is a 6-phosphate that has regulatory and degenerative effects on cells. It is the intermediate product in the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by oxidation of glucose. L-2-Phosphoglyceric acid disodium hydrate also inhibits phosphatases, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphate esters, such as ATP, to generate free phosphate ions. L-2-Phosphoglyceric acid disodium hydrate is an important factor in controlling cell proliferation and growth. When it is present at high levels, it can inhibit the activity of an enzyme called phosphatase, which breaks down ATP into adenosine diphosphate (ADP). This inhibition leads to a buildup of ATP, which causes cells to grow rapidly.
